He is a Florida Board Certified Tax Attorney and Certified Public  Accountant. He was formerly a trial attorney with the Office of Chief  Counsel for the Internal Revenue Service, Miami District Counsel Office  and was responsible for the trial of Tax Court cases and handled cases  involving the collection of federal taxes and criminal prosecution for  violation of tax laws. Mr. Gomez received an L.L.M. Degree in Taxation  in 1984 from the University of Miami School of Law, Miami, Florida, a  Juris Doctor Degree in 1980 from Loyola University School of Law, New  Orleans, Louisiana, and a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree  with Honors in Accounting in 1977 from Florida International University,  Miami, Florida. Mr. Gomez is admitted to practice before the Florida  Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth and  Eleventh Circuits, the United States District Court for the Southern  District of Florida, the United States Tax Court and the Court of  Federal Claims. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Florida  Bar, where he has served as Co-Chair of the Tax Section's Committees on  Gratuitous Transfers and on International Tax. He is a member of  various legal and professional organizations and is a frequent lecturer  on tax and estate planning issues.
